MEOR
Microbial Enhanced Oil Recovery
Microbial Enhanced Oil Recovery (MEOR) is a tertiary EOR technique, commonly used as a means to increase ultimate recovery after primary and seconday production has completed. MEOR focuses on introducing microbes into the reservoir in order to improve the recovery of trapped oil and to increase the recovery factor.
Field trials show an initial average oil production increase of 200-300% and an initial water cut decrease of 10-40%.

Gas Production
Degrades long chain alkanes to short chain, effectively reduces oil viscosity
Produces localized gas to help lift oil and adds additional pressure to push oil out from pores
Produces surfactant during metabolism, reducing interfacial tension and oil emulsions in water
